Patent Prints
The drawing sheets of ten famous American patents — the Wright brothers' flying machine, Edison's lamp, Bell's telephone, Tesla's induction motor, the Kodak, the Coca-Cola bottle, Monopoly, the LEGO brick, the Stratocaster and the Rubik's Cube — printed from the official grants published by the US Patent and Trademark Office. Patent documents are works of the US government and in the public domain; each print is rendered at double resolution from the USPTO's scan, its line anti-aliased and the ink lifted onto an aged-paper tone, with the examiner's stamps and the inventors' signatures kept. Offered at the sheet's own proportions — 12×18, 16×24 and 20×30 — as a framed patent print in black, oak or white, or unframed on archival paper. Reproductions of government documents, not licensed merchandise. Hung together they read as a blueprint wall: black line on warm paper, no colour, every sheet the same weight. Sets of three are on the gallery wall sets page.
